About & Mission Statement

Our Mission

To provide our water and wastewater utility members with resources, education, and networking in order to enhance the quality of services to those members’ customers.

About Us

The Michigan Rural Water Association, formed in 1990, is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that is governed by a membership elected board of directors. The goals of the MRWA, similar to that identified within the federal Safe Drinking Water Act, include protecting public health by ensuring the provision of safe drinking water and compliance with federal and state rules, regulations, and standards.

The MRWA provides training and technical assistance to municipalities throughout Michigan in the areas of water and wastewater operations, federal and state compliance and source water protection. Over the last two decades, the MRWA has worked to expand the level and quality of services to all municipalities. This has led to excellent attendance at annual events including the MRWA Management and Technical Conference, Upper Peninsula Expo, Water Review Courses, Equipment Expo, northern and southern satellite golf outings and the over one hundred trainings hosted throughout Michigan each year.

MRWA is committed to offering the highest level of training, technical assistance and informational products and services necessary to promote public health and environmental protection.
