Operators and superintendents must understand that many of the common “Standard Practices” used at water and wastewater systems today can lead to a potential catastrophic issue at their facilities. 

This program looks at some of these issues, where if not addressed, can ultimately lead to events that potentially cause bodily harm, (They can kill people; workers, even customers) if not effectively addressed.

-Give operators the tools to understand why simply looking at chemical “drum” labeling or certificates of analysis doesn’t really tell the whole picture…is that chemical you ordered what you received? Operator’s will be shown the necessary tools to do a simple chemical verification process.
-Skill-building through hand-on use of verification tools
-Preventing a catastrophic event from occurring at your system during a chemical delivery and subsequent product use

9:45 am – 10:45 am DPD Chlorine Test
     a)  Color development
     b)  limitations
     c)  Inherent issues
     d)  Interferences
     e)  Dealing with issues

10:45 am – 11:15 am  That Stinking “Hose” 
     a)  Backflow issues
     b)  Potential problems
     c)  Just how easy this issue can be to introduce pathogens

11:15 am – 11:30 am - break

11:30 am – 12: 30 pm  Infrastructure age                                           
     a)  What to look for 1st
     b)  Need for extra surveillance
     c)  Why this so important

12:30 pm – 1:30 pm lunch (provided)

1:30 pm – 3:00 pm  Standard chemical delivery practices          
     a)  They are all wrong!!!
     b)  Need for verification
     c)  What a verification process looks like
     d)  Tools needed

Class is free but you must pre-register.
Funding for this class provided by the EPA.

Payment/Cancellation Policy: Payment is expected prior to class. Cancellations must be requested at least 3 business days prior to the start of the class or your registration fee will be forfeited. If you cancel least 3 business days prior to the start of class, the full amount may be used as credit toward a future class. You may send a substitute attendee.
