Utilities Supervisor

The City of Grand Ledge is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Utilities Supervisor. This is a Grade 5 position with a salary range of $45,722 - $59,437 annually.

Job Summary:  Under the general direction of the Public Services Director plans and manages the operations of the City’s drinking water treatment and distribution systems and wastewater and storm water collection systems. Supervises and evaluates assigned personnel.  Supervises and participates in the activities of the division, stays current of pertinent statutes and regulations, and develops recommendations for changes in policy or alterations to the systems.

Minimum Qualifications:  High school diploma degree or equivalent; five years of experience in water distribution/treatment and wastewater collection system operation and maintenance; a State of Michigan Class S3 water distribution certificate, Class D3 limited water treatment certificate (attained within one year of employment), knowledge of the machines, equipment, materials, safety precautions, and operating practices of modern water and wastewater systems and related facilities; knowledge in the chemical and physical processes involved in the extraction, distribution, collection and treatment of municipal water and wastewater; in-depth knowledge of the Safe Drinking Water Act, Act 399 P.A. 1977 and related legislation; valid Michigan driver’s license and the ability to obtain a Michigan Commercial Driver’s License Class B with air brake endorsement; ability to plan, supervise and inspect the work of others; ability to maintain accurate records and prepare comprehensive reports on the operations of the treatment and distribution systems; ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, contractors, other governmental agencies, and the public; ability to exercise good judgement, initiative and resourcefulness in dealing with the public, elected officials, community leaders, and other professionals; ability to effectively communicate and present ideas and concepts orally and in writing; ability to read and interpret construction drawings and maps of water and wastewater systems; ability to work effectively under stress and changes in work priorities; ability to perform a broad range of maintenance and repair functions.

Water and Wastewater Operator

    The City of Clare is accepting applications for a full-time employment position, water and wastewater operator.    This position is for forty hours per week plus benefits.  Applicants must have a minimum of high school graduation with background in mathematics and mechanics.  Applicants must submit a letter of interest, a resume listing qualifications, and a minimum of three references to the City Clerk, 202 West Fifth Street, Clare, MI48617 to arrive no later than 5 p.m. on July 3, 2008.  The City of Clare is an equal opportunity employer.

Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator/DPW Supervisor

This City of Pinconning is looking for a wastewater treatment Plant Operator/DPW Supervisor.

Operate a B Licensed Wastewater Treatment Plant Facility.  Monitor and inspect pump stations, plant equipment and processes.  Supervision, training and assignment of work to other plant operators.  Maintain records, analyze chemicals, samples and supplies.  Inspect mechanical and electrical equipment.  Responsible for complete plant operations on weekends, holidays and plant off-hours.   Schedule Department of Public Works assignments and employees.  Answer directly to the city Manager.  Salary and benefits are negotiable.

Must possess a State of Michigan operator certification.   Class C operator certification for wastewater treatment or higher preferred.  Must maintain certification while employed.  Experience as a Wastewater Treatment Operator is REQUIRED!  Position is open until filled.

WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR 

Infrastructure Alternatives is a contract operations firm headquartered in West Michigan providing operations and maintenance services to industry and municipalities throughout the Great Lakes region.  

Infrastructure Alternatives is currently seeking a certified wastewater treatment operator to operate an industrial/commercial activated sludge plant, along with a number of other small wastewater treatment systems in the West Michigan area.   As operator of record for these systems, tasks will include: sample collection and analysis; control of chemical, biological and mechanical processes; tending and maintaining equipment; maintaining records and reporting; and housekeeping/grounds keeping.  Work is both indoor and outdoor. 

A successful candidate must be willing to work overtime, holidays and weekends and be on-call 24 hours a day for emergencies.  Possession of (or the ability to obtain) a Commercial/Industrial C-3a Activated Sludge certification from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality by fall/winter 2008 is required.  In addition, possession of a Michigan Class C municipal wastewater treatment license is preferred.
